For the best results:
 

• Remove the photograph from its frame 

• Place it flat on a table

• Use an ambient lit area, indirect lighting (no harsh lighting)

• Turn off the camera flash

• Hold your phone directly above the photograph

• Avoid casting a shadow across the image

• Center the photograph

• Fill the frame with the picture as much as possible without cutting off the edges

• Take the photograph at the highest practical resolution (** review camera setting options)

• Check the image for blur or distortion before submitting

• Please ** name and label your files with short description
  
   

USING A SCANNER

• Place the photograph flat on the scanner glass

• Select Photo/Picture mode

• Use the highest DPI practical resolution

• Save as JPEG or another high-quality format

• Please name and label your files with short description
   

IMPORTANT
The better the digital copy, the better the restoration can be

• If the original photo is severely damaged, especially important, or has a unique meaning that you believe would be beneficial for me to be aware of, please make sure to add your detailed comments or questions on the form.
